Our try-out consists of a multi-day instructional clinic, interviews, and one performance day.

Tryout Schedule:
Thursday, April 4th: Parent/Athlete into meeting (mandatory) 6:00 pm in the library
Thursday, April 24th: Rookie Clinic 1 5:30-7:30 pm in the cafeteria
Thursday, May 8th: Rookie Clinic 2 5:30-7:30 pm in the cafeteria
Monday May 12th: Rookie Clinic 3 (Mandatory) 5:30-7:30 pm in the cafeteria
Tuesday May 13th: Tryout day 1 5:30-7:30 in the cafeteria
Wednesday May 14th: Tryout Day 2 5:30-7:30 in the cafeteria
Thursday May 15th: Tryout Day 3 5:30-7:30 in the cafeteria
Friday May 16th: Performance Eval day Starts at 4:00 pm
The cafeteria will open starting at 5:00 pm for open mat for athletes to arrive, stretch, practice, and ask questions before tryouts start promptly at 5:30. Athletes are expected to be stretched and warmed up before the start time. The cafeteria will remain open until 8:00 pm for additional open mat and practice time. Coaches will be asking athletes to sign up for an interview time over the course of the 13th-15th, interview time slots will also start at 5:00 pm and the last one will end at 8:00.
The tryouts consist of the athletes learning cheers, band dances, the RHS fight song, and a halftime dance. Athletes will be placed in tryout groups and asked to create sideline game day stunts to go with a cheer and come up with 3-4 eight counts of stunts, jumps, tumbling, or an additional dance to perform after their half time dance. Each tryout group will be given a time for their performance evaluation on Friday May 16th. At the evaluation they will be asked to perform their game day cheer, rally and walk to their halftime dance & extra count formations, perform the fight song, and do a band dance.
All athletes are expected to be game day ready at each day of tryouts, including rookie clinics. Athletes are expected to wear a blue t shirt or tank top (no crop tops or sports bras) with black athletic shorts/skirt and cheer or athletic shoes. Athletes should arrive with their hair in a slick back mid pony with a white ribbon or bow and all jewelry off.
Throughout tryouts athletes will also be evaluated on their jumps and tumbling if applicable. Athletes will be evaluated throughout the entirety of the tryout process.
Our coaches will be looking for:
· Attitude: Positive, works hard, listens and follows instructions, gets along with others,
helpful, no excuses...
· Leadership: Sets a positive example, is punctual, confident
· Ability: Technique, STRENGTH, flexibility, experience, learns quickly, shows improvement
· Appearance: Clean and natural, hair back, NO piercings/jewelry,
Blue athletic top (no crop tops or sports bras) and black athletic shorts/skirt, neutral makeup, and sport-length nails. Athletes are expected to

Rookie Clinics:
A rookie is anyone who has not cheered for the RHS cheer program previously. Athletes who have participated in RJT or competition. are still considered rookies.We offer 3 rookie clinics, two optional and one mandatory. During these clinics athletes will be taught motion, jump, and stunt technique, tryout cheers, and the fight song. It is a great opportunity for rookies to meet their potential coaches ahead of time and ask questions!
Rookies please bring all required tryout items to the first clinic you attend!

1. INFO/MEDICAL CARD due 5/13 cannot participate without it
- Tryout cards will be handed out at the parent info meeting on 4/3. fill out, and bring to tryouts!
