  • ‘Ir + a + verb’
  • - In general, we use ‘Ir + a + infinitive verb’ phrases

      when speaking of actions that will happen in the near future. We practiced this in Spanish 1 (Unit 5).

    • - In general, we use ‘Ir + a + infinitive verb’ phrases

    Examples: Yo voy a nadar.

    I am going to swim.

    Ellos van a comer pollo.

    They are going to eat chicken..

    2. - However, we use the future tense when referring to actions in the more distant future.
    3. - Hint:

      The clue word in English is "will_____"

      Examples: Yo nadaré el sábado.. I will swim on Saturday.

    Ellos comerán pollo para La Navidad. They will eat chicken for Christmas.

    Ellos comerán pollo para La Navidad.

  • Future tense does something we have not done before….

    For ‘-ar,’ ‘-er,’ and ‘-ir’ verbs, attach the following endings to the end of the infinitive:

    HINT: There is no stem changing, nor irregular yo in the future tense.

  • Future Tense Conjugations that are also reflexive
  • You can also combine what you

      learned before about reflexive verbs with the future tense. When you do this, you place the reflexive pronouns before the verb that you are putting in the future.

    1. Examples: Yo me ducharé. I will shower myself.

       

       

      te cepillarás. You will brush yourself.

       

      Nina se callará. Nina will quiet herself.
