This year in the RHS Engineering training program, your son or daughter will be a member of SkillsUSA. This is a national student organization that teaches leadership and employability skills to help students succeed—both on the job and in life.
Students will have the opportunity to practice both employability and leadership skills through our service learning projects.  Service learning projects are voluntary, but are a critical component for developing leadership styles and technical skills.  Students also have the opportunity to compete in a variety of technical and leadership areas against others from Northern California schools (Regionals are at American River College),and later in April, state wide.
I hope you will support participation of this activity by your child. Membership dues for our SkillsUSA Chapter are covered by a grant from the state department of education.  Competition fees, are typically minimal for regionals.

Active SkillsUSA members will have a chance to conduct a variety of professional development activities including competitions that test their job skills against industry standards. There will also be opportunities to receive credentials that will enhance a job portfolio. And, students who elect to participate in skill or leadership events are eligible to represent their school at the state or national level, and to win industry awards and scholarships. Additional information about regional, state or national events will be sent home later, once we determine participation.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 916-632-1600 or send an e-mail to dfrank@rocklinusd.org. I appreciate your support of this activity.
