Course Description



This course explores the principles of Earth Science in the following related topics / fields:
Investigation and Experimentation, Earth’s place in The Universe, Dynamic Earth Processes, Energy in the Earth System, Biogeochemical Cycles, Structure and Composition of Earth’s Atmosphere, and California Geology.  


Throughout this course, it is my intention to impress upon students the delicate interactions of the ocean, the earth’s surface, and climate, and how these interactions reshape our world.  Furthermore, the structure of this class, and routines incorporated, are designed not only to increase students’ ability to acquire and retain information, but to also prepare students to be successful in future science courses.  To this end, information will be presented to students utilizing various modalities including, but not limited to: lectures, discussions, demonstrations, laboratory activities, group activities, videos, guest speakers, computer/internet sources, and voluntary field trips.
